This Year’s Safety Sword Nominees Are….

Congratulations go to the operations listed who, after careful consideration of health and safety performance, including close out of Near Miss/Hazard Alert reports and items identified during inspections as well as injury free performance, have been identified as “Best in Sector” in the UK Health and Safety Awards.

They will now compete for the overall National Award, the Safety Sword, which was first presented back in 1966, underlining the long-standing commitment to the priority we place on health and safety.

Good luck to all the presenters as they represent their operations and compete for the Sword at the National Health and Safety Committee on Wednesday:

Aggregates: Midlands Area (Mark Brown)

Cement: Tilbury Plant (Tony Drake)

Concrete: East Anglia (Matthew Yaxley)

Other Businesses: Dry Silo Mortar (Andrew Bright)

Road Transportation: Supply Chain Cement (Dan Bateman and Ian Phoenix)

The very best reward for maintaining high health and safety standards is, of course, ensuring everyone returns home safe and well at the end of every shift.
