Laurence Dagley, Managing Director Southern Materials, put out this message about our financial performance so far in 2019.

“I am pleased to say we have got our year off to a good start, with the UK Materials result coming in ahead of our January budget.

Whilst volumes of both Readymix and Aggregates were a little down, partly due to the snow at the end of the month, our price performance was strong, especially in Readymix. I’d like to thank all the commercial teams for their efforts in this regard.

Our costs have also been kept under tight control as requested, which also helped us to deliver the January result – so thanks here should go to everyone at our sites for helping us to get the year off to a good start. Finally, Marine also turned in an above budget result for January.

So, one month down – just 11 to go!”
