Last week we hosted Julien Chapelat from CEMEX Research Group (CRG) at our brick factory in West Calder, Scotland. Julien was responding to a call for help with the lighter colours of our new Ready Brick range. We are looking for an alternative to using one of the current additives .The aim of Julien’s visit was to understand our manufacturing process and to see the raw materials in person, alongside the finished goods. Our intention was for Julien to see the Plant making bricks, but like with any good plan there is always a potential flaw and a major production fault meant that the brick mould was not in during the visit. However, the Plant team were more than willing to share their thoughts and knowledge with us and also took time to explain the process to Julien.  He is armed with samples and information to work on a solution for us which will hopefully improve margin and plant efficiency.
