Philip Jones recently worked his last day at Halkyn before retiring with almost 44 years service at the Quarry.
His association with the Quarry goes back much further than that. As a child Phil grew up in the family home which, if it was still standing, would have been in the Quarry. Phil has spent most of his working life in Halkyn driving dumpers, and a quick estimation reveals that he will have carried approximately 350,000 loads to the crusher, 14 million tonnes of material, and driven over half a million miles in the Quarry!!!!
Phil commented that he has enjoyed working with a good team of guys over the years. Arthur, Philip’s brother, retired from the Quarry a few years ago and it is quite remarkable that between them they have contributed almost a 100 years service in Halkyn.
Thank you to Phil for all his hard work over the years, and we all wish him a long and happy retirement.
