CEMEX Rail Solutions Somercotes Family Day

On Saturday 2nd July colleagues and family members from our Rail Solutions Plant at Somercotes gathered together for a fun day at AltonTowers Theme Park.

A total of 85 colleagues and family members attended the day.  45 travelled by coach that was arranged by the company, others made their own way to the park where they were met by the Site Operations Manager, Terence Clair, who welcomed all to the park and ensured that each family had the correct tickets for entrance to the park.

Unfortunately, the rain decided to show itself but this didn’t put the dampers on the day and everyone enjoyed a thrill packed day.  The grownups went on the rides Galactica Virtual Reality, The Smiler, Oblivion and Spinball Whizzer. The younger members of the group enjoyed CBeebies Land and Justin’s House of Pie Magic. Sadly, as usual on these days, it all finished all too soon but everyone returned safely back to Somercotes.

It was great to see colleagues from different areas of the factory coming together and sharing their experiences.

Terence Clair commented: “Building on the success of last year’s family day we decided to do the same this year with a visit to Alton Towers.  This year, in my eyes, was a much greater success with larger numbers – a total of 85. Meeting the families of our Team is always a joy for me.  We sometimes forget that these are the people that don’t see their loved ones while they are working with us.  This gives us focus on how important it is that everyday each and every one of us returns home the same way we left.

I want to thank all for making it such a special and important day to us and our families.”

Some of the feedback from our colleagues:
