Scotland’s Wellbeing Challenges: Mountain Biking

On 17th October the second Wellbeing Challenge got off to a rather damp start. The plan was to spend a couple of hours mountain biking in Glentress forest, unfortunately as with most outdoor activities in Scotland, you can plan the activity but you can’t plan the weather.  Fortunately, being hardy quarry workers, they have all experienced much worse in the past and five team members were found to be sheltering outside the toilet blocks ready for the 10am start.

There was some confusion over gear selection which led to a few members disappearing from sight early on (at least that was their excuse!). Once the team had recovered from the hour of climbing the descent began.  It followed two miles of single track which led them straight to the cafe where the chance of a free lunch was taken up by all involved.  It was great to see the team experience something new and will hopefully inspire them to take up the sport or try something different in the future.
