CEMEX Reaffirms Commitment To Biodiversity

CEMEX announced today its participation in the thirteenth reunion of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP13), held in Cancun, Mexico, during December. Within the framework of the Conference, CEMEX reiterated its active role in protecting the biodiversity in our planet through the signing of the Cancun Business and Biodiversity Pledge.

CEMEX participated in the 2016 Business and Biodiversity Forum – Mainstreaming Biodiversity: Opportunities for Businesses, focused on integrating biodiversity into the planning and operation of productive sectors including conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity in business plans, beyond corporate social responsibility strategies.

During the Forum, Juan Romero, President of CEMEX Mexico, signed on behalf of the company the mentioned pledge by which CEMEX joins other signatory companies in the pursuit of concrete actions that deliver solutions for the conservation of biodiversity, its sustainable use, and the fair and equitable sharing of benefits from genetic resources.
