This week saw 20 bat boxes go up at Cowieslinn Quarry. They have been located on the edge of woodland around the site boundary in an attempt to provide roosting opportunities for these protected animals.
Bats have recently been detected on site by a contractor during an electrical inspection. It is hoped the boxes will encourage any bats in the area to roost away from our fixed plant. The boxes sourced through the RSPB have been installed as part of the site Biodiversity Action Plan and are in addition to Kestrel boxes that had been erected previously on site.
