The CEMEX UK Environmental Management System (EMS) has been certified to the new ISO 14001:2015 standard. This new version of the standard was issued in 2015 and we had to get our updated EMS certified before September 2018 in order to retain our certification. The Sustainability Team has been supporting this process throughout 2017 with 101 sites audited and SGS, our external auditors, completed the final audit of the transition to the new standard in early December 2017. A big thank you to all the business areas involved.
SGS commented that: “2017 started with a successful Stage 1 audit highlighting the business’ commitment in the presentation of a thorough and comprehensive management system revealing no critical or noncritical findings. Stage 2 site audits progressed through the rest of the year finding excellent levels in staff knowledge and in general, good housekeeping standards.”
Certification to the Environmental Management Standard ISO 14001 is a key way that we demonstrate our environmental credentials to customers, neighbours, regulators and other stakeholders and preserve the natural environment. Good news for Hearts and Minds!
