Our 800 year-old Oak tree needs your votes!  The ‘old electric oak’ up in Wickwar is in the running for the Woodland Trust’s tree of the year award. 

You may remember Frank Hogg and his granddaughter who saved the tree from the chop earlier this year.  The local electricity company needed to cut the tree which had grown over the electricity cables in its canopy.  After talking with the local council and the power company a compromise was reached – the tree is now protected and the power cables on much taller poles!
