The school summer holidays have started in Scotland and will begin in England and Wales over the next couple of weeks.  With this in mind, it would be a good time for Site Teams to double check that adequate controls are in place to deter young people from entering our sites.

Are site boundary fences, bunds and signage in good order?  Are specific precautions in place to prevent access to danger areas e.g. access to heights, mobile plant, quarry faces, lagoons, etc?  Is rescue equipment, such as throw ropes and life buoys, in place near open water?  Is additional security required over the summer months?

All control measures should be regularly checked as part of site inspection schemes with repairs being carried out and documented.
