In an incident last week it seems the work we have done to improve vehicle safety may have saved a 10 year old boy from serious injury. 
He was cycling along the pavement to school with his family when, as he came around a corner, he wobbled, lost his balance and fell into the side of one of our passing tipper vehicles.

It was very fortunate that the near side under run ‘warning board’ on the side of the vehicle prevented the young boy from falling between the axles.  The child’s parents were very grateful for the actions of our driver who had only been travelling at 20 mph in the built up area.
