Step-In for Customers

At a recent site visit Daniel Roberts, Sales Manager RMX NW, ‘stepped in’. Daniel takes up the story:

“I witnessed, on my way to the cabins, a site operative removing excess build-up of concrete in isolation on a 1m3 concrete skip with wheels.  It didn’t have blocks against the wheels and it was swaying so I went over and advised him that he should consider placing wood, or something similar, with a solid resistance up against both wheels to mitigate the chance of this skip continuing to move and, more importantly, hurting himself.  The operative thanked me as we had a brief discussion on this safety issue.  He didn’t think the skip would move: a) because it was heavy and b) he had done this cleaning out of the skip numerous times in the past. TOGETHER we got wood blocks from the side of the site and placed them against the wheels.  On reflection I was pleased I prevented the operative from getting injured and that I changed his behaviour towards his safety…”
