The UK road safety group has revised our UK safe mobile phone policy document. Please see the policy document in the download section of UK News website and distribute it amongst your colleagues.

It is your responsibility to be aware of the policy.

In brief summary the guidelines are:

Try to avoid using the mobile phone whilst driving.

If it is absolutely necessary to use the phone when driving, remember it must be:

• safe to take a call
• hands free
• an urgent call that cannot be avoided
• kept to a minimum length – arrange to call back when you aren’t driving, and
• never text, email or use a device for other ‘hands on’ operations whilst driving
