Work has started on the new sand and water treatment Plant at Rugeley Quarry. When completed this will improve the quality of the concrete sand and eliminate the need to blend with limestone fines.  In addition, the fine sand, that at present is lost into the lagoons due to the inefficiency of existing sand Plant, will be retained to produce additional building sand product and a fill sand that will be used on site by a third party for producing a soil by blending with a compost. The addition of the water treatment plant will eliminate the requirement to pump water from a river over 2km away.
