Following Luis Oropeza’s visit a couple of weeks ago to South Ferriby Cement Plant to review how completion of the sites improvement plan were progressing, a Team flew in for the week to conduct a heat and mass balance on the kilns. 

The Team consisted of two process engineers from Switzerland and the Czech Republic. They looked at all aspects of the kilns operation to understand the desired kiln outputs whilst maximising alternative fuels.  At the same time the quality Team were hosting Magnus from CEMEX’s research centre in Switzerland who was there to review the Plants operation from a quality viewpoint and how it could be improved.  Both of these reviews should help the Plant improve its performance to maximise its consumption of alternative fuels whilst making cement that our customers want to use without any complaint.
