Sean Cassidy reported that the Scottish Readymix team have been trying to tackle a problem which had been highlighted by the Local Water Utility company. The waste water from the Concrete Plant at East Kilbride had a high pH.
Working with Derek Caird, Ops Supervisor, and William Nodwell, the Plant Fitter, a trial to look at neutralising the effluent using carbon dioxide gas was carried out. This involved bubbling the gas into the effluent which did reduce pH and ensured compliance with the trade effluent consent. Sean thought it would be useful to share and is interested in comments or to hear from people with the same problem.
